Nigerian musician Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, has said that he used to work as a lawyer during the day and as a rapper at night.
In an episode of the Madam Joyce podcast, Falz discussed how he was balancing his career as a lawyer and musician.
The rapper noted that it was challenging balancing his two careers.
According to Falz, there was a legal rule prohibiting lawyers from engaging in other activities while practsing law.
He said, “There was a time I was in court, and living a double life at the time as well. Lawyer by day, rapper by night.
“So when I announced my appearance ‘With profound respect my lord, the name is Folarin the Falana, appearing for the plaintiff’ and the judge lowered his glasses and said ‘counsel, are you not the one doing something else on the side?’
“There is an unspoken rule of professional conduct within the legal practice where you are not supposed to do other things.”
Why I Decided To Become A Lawyer
Meanwhile, Falz has said that he was not pressured to become a lawyer.
He stated this in his latest interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo.
He, however, explained that he was inspired by the people his father, Femi Falana, fought for when he was growing up.
Falz claimed that all he wanted to do was follow in his father’s good example.
