The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has unveiled a new senior management team, naming eight executives to steer the company’s operations and strategic direction. The reshuffle, announced on Friday, aims to bolster operational efficiency within the national oil giant.
A statement released by the company’s spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, confirmed the appointments and management restructuring. Bashir Ojulari has been appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), leading a team that includes Rowland Ewubare as Group Chief Operating Officer, Adedapo Segun as Group Chief Financial Officer, and Olalekan Ogunleye as Executive Vice President of Gas, Power & New Energy.
Other key appointments include Udy Ntia as Executive Vice President of Upstream, Mumuni Dangazau, who replaces Isiyaku Abdullahi as Executive Vice President of Downstream, and Sophia Mbakwe as Executive Vice President of Business Services. Adesua Dozie has also been named the Company Secretary & Chief Legal Officer.
The appointments are effective immediately, signaling a fresh leadership approach at NNPCL. This move follows the earlier appointment of the new GCEO and Board of Directors, with the reshuffle aimed at streamlining operations and positioning the company for greater success.
In line with the Petroleum Industry Act, the company also submitted the names of the newly appointed management team to the Corporate Affairs Commission for approval. The shareholders of NNPCL, who include the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, have formally endorsed the new management structure.
The decision to reconstitute the management team comes after President Bola Tinubu’s recent announcement that saw the replacement of Chief Pius Akinyelure and other board members appointed in November 2023.
