Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his happiness in watching his former player, Alex Iwobi, thrive at Fulham.
Alex Iwobi has had a big impact since moving from Everton to Fulham last summer. He has scored five goals in 15 league games so far this season.
Mikel Arteta commended the Nigerian international for his unique talents, stating, “I always liked him a lot. He possesses tremendous talent and has a very special quality. He can adapt to different spaces and positions, and I’m genuinely happy to see him performing at this level.”
On another note, Arteta acknowledged his team’s need for defender Gabriel Magalhaes after their Premier League match against Fulham ended in a 1-1 draw.
Gabriel was absent from the match-day squad, recovering from a knee injury that had also ruled him out of Arsenal’s preceding 2-0 victory over Manchester United.
Other notable absences included Riccardo Calafiori, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
In his post-match press conference, when asked about Gabriel’s absence, Mikel Arteta responded, “Yes, we certainly miss him.”
However, he also praised the adaptability shown by his squad, saying, “I was really pleased with Jakub’s performance. We had to adjust our entire defensive setup, utilizing Jakub and Jurrien Timber in positions we hadn’t tried before. Thomas Partey also stepped in as a fullback, which was commendable.”
